Join us to help deliver our AI-centric roadmap focused on hyper-personalization, automation of claims processing, and innovative distribution strategies that power the growing $70 billion embedded protection market.
Role Summary
As an Engineering Manager within our Technology team, you will lead a group of 5–6 engineers responsible for the software supporting our Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) brands RentalCover.com and TravelCover.com. Your leadership will be pivotal in enhancing the digital experience, accelerating key growth metrics such as user acquisition, conversion rates, retention, and overall revenue. This role demands a hands-on approach, balancing engineering leadership with active coding contributions primarily utilizing PHP/Laravel and TypeScript/React tech stacks.
Responsibilities
- Manage the technical delivery and operational performance of applications within the D2C domain, meeting business, performance, and security goals.
- Translate growth objectives into deliverables that drive user acquisition, conversion, retention, and revenue enhancement.
- Champion engineering excellence by establishing best practices, quality controls, and sound architecture, supported by performance metrics.
- Develop and maintain a culture focused on innovation, continuous improvement, and collaborative problem solving.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Marketing, Infrastructure, and Data & AI teams across multiple timezones to realize our vision of a world-leading embedded insurance platform.
- Scout and implement emerging technologies, including AI tools, to augment team productivity, product quality, and competitive advantage.
Qualifications and Skills
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years in software development and at least 3 years in engineering leadership roles.
- Proficiency in backend and frontend development, notably in PHP/Laravel, React, and TypeScript, with experience building and maintaining high-quality APIs and services emphasizing testing, CI/CD, security, and performance.
- Strong foundation in software architecture design, API development, monitoring, and observability within complex distributed systems.
- Hands-on knowledge of growth engineering including SEO best practices, digital ad tracking, analytics integrations (Google Ads, Google Analytics), and site optimization.
- Experience integrating AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Gemini into real-world workflows.
- Understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs) beyond code generation: prompt engineering, context handling, and judicious AI application.
- Familiarity with modern development practices such as AI tooling, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code quality tools, infrastructure-as-code, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), and Kubernetes workload management is highly desirable.
- Experience developing scalable customer-facing web applications, preferably in fintech or insurtech sectors.
Leadership and Culture
- Exhibits an ownership mindset promoting accountability and proactive problem solving.
- Ability to craft and communicate a strategic technical vision aligned with business objectives.
- Excellent communication skills facilitating diverse audience engagement and cross-team cooperation.
- Expertise in people development, building psychological safety, recognizing talents, and fostering professional growth.
- Committed to an AI-first philosophy that treats AI tools as central to infrastructure and consistently integrates emerging AI capabilities into workflows.
Company Culture and Additional Information
- We foster a collaborative, accountable, customer-focused environment that values urgency, decisiveness, and collective success.
- Flexible hybrid work model with in-office attendance Monday, Tuesday and Friday, and remote work Wednesdays and Thursdays, including flexible start and finish times.
- We actively support diversity and inclusion, with zero tolerance for discrimination or harassment.
