Role Overview

We seek a dedicated Engineering Manager to lead a newly created AI Engineering and AI Platform team within our Data Science and AI tribe. The team focuses on scaling AI initiatives using modern AI APIs from providers like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google, integrating these into secure, reliable, and cost-efficient backend and cloud-native systems, internal AI platforms, and agentic workflows.

Primary Responsibilities

• Establish and mentor a new AI Engineering and AI Platform team to foster agility, autonomy, and continuous growth.
• Provide technical leadership in AI/LLM services, backend architecture, AWS deployments, Terraform-managed infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and agentic workflow development.
• Oversee end-to-end delivery of AI projects from concept through production, including rollout, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Design and improve the internal AI platform encompassing model access, server integrations, observability, governance, rate controls, and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with teams across Data Science, Product, Engineering, Security, Platform, and business to identify high-impact AI solutions.
• Promote engineering best practices ensuring reliability, security, maintainability, and production readiness of AI systems.
• Participate in recruitment to grow team capabilities.

Required Qualifications

• A university degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, or related disciplines.
• Experience in software, backend, platform, cloud, or AI engineering roles.
• Proven leadership experience as an Engineering Manager, Team Lead, Tech Lead, or similar capacity.
• Strong knowledge of scalable backend infrastructure, cloud-native architectures, API design, and modern development methodologies.
• Familiarity with AI system integration including LLM APIs, agentic workflows, and production-grade AI platforms.
• Hands-on technical expertise in Python, Docker, CI/CD processes, cloud infrastructure, and Infrastructure as Code—preferably with AWS and Terraform.
• Insight into AI platform aspects such as observability, governance, data privacy, rate limiting, cost management, and secure LLM operations.
• Passion for fostering technical excellence, people development, and building productive engineering teams.
• Strong analytical abilities in both technical and business contexts.
• Effective communication skills suited to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A high degree of ownership and pragmatic, hands-on approach.
• Experience with LangGraph, LiteLLM, Langfuse, Datadog, MCP servers, or similar tools is advantageous.
