About the Role
We are seeking a Quality Engineer specializing in Diesel Generator (DG) set installation to oversee installation, erection, testing, and commissioning processes. The role involves ensuring strict adherence to approved technical specifications, drawings, client expectations, and relevant quality standards to maintain top-quality execution and eliminate rework.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with quality standards throughout DG set installation phases including erection, testing, and commissioning.
- Collaborate closely with the Erection Head to uphold high installation standards and achieve zero defects.
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation and quality reports reflecting activities and outcomes.
- Oversee completion of inspection test plans (ITP) and timely resolution of non-conformance reports (NCRs).
- Facilitate successful first-time client inspections and approvals.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 to 7 years of experience in DG set installation or QA/QC roles within power projects.
- Proficient knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management system standards.
Key Skills and Competencies
- Comprehensive understanding of mechanical and electrical drawings related to DG sets.
- Familiarity with DG set technical specifications.
- Hands-on experience using testing instruments such as Megger, torque wrenches, and alignment tools.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Effective documentation and reporting expertise.
Preferred Certifications
- ISO 9001 Internal Auditor certification.
- Six Sigma certification is advantageous.
- QA/QC certifications for Mechanical or Electrical works.
Performance Metrics
- Achieve zero rework due to quality failures.
- Ensure 100% compliance with Inspection Test Plans (ITPs).
- Resolve Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) promptly and effectively.
- Obtain clearances on first-time client inspection approvals.
- Deliver accurate and complete documentation and project handover materials.
