Job description
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Engineer III who has accumulated a few years of practical engineering experience and is eager to go beyond routine ticket handling. You will work in an environment where collaboration elevates your skills, tackle significant technical challenges, and experiment with AI thoughtfully integrated into development processes.
Key Responsibilities
As an integral part of our Content Management team, you will design and own features and projects covering content upload, processing, metadata management, storage, distribution, and both human and AI-assisted quality reviews. Your contributions will ensure our marketplace remains efficient and reliable. You'll deliver durable, well-tested software and take initiative to confidently diagnose and resolve production issues, improving system stability and performance.
Team and Work Environment
You will be supported by experienced Lead and Senior Engineers through collaborative pairing and constructive feedback. We value strong engineering craft while welcoming innovative approaches that challenge traditional methods. Our team prioritizes AI-first practices, employing agents to aid coding and testing, granting you freedom to explore and pioneer new workflows.
Candidate Profile
Ideal candidates have strong backend software development skills and are passionate about craftsmanship. Experience with Ruby on Rails or an analogous framework is beneficial. You understand the importance of writing clear, maintainable code, making sensible trade-offs, and thorough testing. Curiosity and problem-solving aptitude are crucial when addressing production challenges. Practical interest in AI, balanced with critical judgement, is essential. Familiarity with AWS, Terraform, Docker, Buildkite, Datadog, Rollbar, and content-heavy architectures is advantageous, though eagerness to learn and ownership mindset are paramount.
Company Culture and Benefits
Envato is a purpose-led organization embracing flexible, inclusive work styles globally. Our core values—Customer First, Build our Future, Make it Happen, and Embrace Diversity—influence our culture and growth. Benefits encompass home office setup support, budgets for team connection and learning, wellbeing and education assistance, volunteer leave, extensive parental leave, complimentary access to all our products, and the opportunity to work remotely from another location for up to three months yearly.
Diversity and Hiring Practices
We promote diversity and inclusiveness throughout our recruitment and workplace experience, focusing on your passion, lived experiences, and potential contributions rather than checklists. AI tools may assist recruitment but do not replace human decision-making; all final hiring choices rest with our team. By applying, you consent to our Privacy Policy detailing the handling of your personal information.
