Engineer I

Position Overview

The Engineer I role at St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, located at Marasi Drive, Business Bay, Dubai, entails responding promptly to guest maintenance requests and addressing repair issues efficiently. The role requires communicating directly with guests to resolve maintenance concerns and conducting preventive upkeep on tools, kitchen apparatus, and mechanical systems, including cleaning and lubrication tasks.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Carry out visual inspections of tools, machinery, and equipment.
• Manage and operate all equipment shut-off valves along with building utility controls.
• Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, request parts as necessary.
• Communicate daily activities and challenges effectively across shifts using standard protocols.
• Demonstrate or quickly learn basics in air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and pneumatic/electronic systems.
• Perform surface preparations, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repairs, light bulb and air conditioning filter replacements, followed by thorough cleaning.
• Troubleshoot and repair plumbing (e.g., unclogging drains), electrical components such as lamps, switches, outlets, and guestroom appliances.
• Program televisions and undertake housekeeping-related inventories along with general engineering inventory tasks.
• Adhere strictly to Lockout/Tagout safety procedures prior to maintenance activities.
• Perform repairs on interior and exterior landscaping and sprinkler systems.
• Utilize basic computer skills for entering air handler schedules and adjusting temperature settings.
• Comply with all company safety and security policies, report hazards, incidents or injuries, and complete required safety training.
• Ensure professional personal appearance and confidentiality of company information.
• Provide warm guest greetings, anticipate guest needs, support guests with disabilities, and maintain high service standards.
• Develop positive relationships with colleagues, support team goals, and communicate professionally.
• Physically capable to move, lift, carry, or push objects up to 50 pounds without assistance, and perform tasks involving bending, twisting, reaching, and climbing stairs or ladders.
• Complete other reasonable duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum education requirement is a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Some experience in general maintenance, especially interior and exterior surface preparation and painting, preferred.
• Experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is advantageous.
• Possession of a valid driver's license is mandatory.
