Job description
Position Overview
Join our Safety team as an Emergency Services Officer Specialist at the Tropicana Gold Mine, responsible for managing emergency preparedness and response aligned with the mine's Emergency Management Plan and procedures. This role also supports health and safety initiatives across the operation and operates on an 8/6 FIFO roster with flights from Perth and Kalgoorlie.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate the execution and continuous auditing of the Tropicana Emergency Response Plan to elevate emergency readiness.
- Enhance first response capabilities, including incident command/control and refinement of related processes with awareness initiatives.
- Develop, implement, and maintain fire and evacuation strategies, alongside training site personnel.
- Oversee site emergency response systems such as fire detection and alert/evacuation mechanisms.
- Administer on-site drug and alcohol testing programs according to national standards.
- Coordinate the Mine Emergency Management Team's annual exercises and skill maintenance activities.
- Deliver training targeted at fire extinguishing, fire wardens, and emergency response team members.
- Review and develop detailed procedures and operational work instructions.
- Maintain regular inspections and upkeep of emergency response equipment.
- Support site security operations as needed.
- Assist with health and safety program implementation.
- Plan and schedule annual emergency mock drills for preparedness verification.
Candidate Profile
- Possession of Certificate III in Mines Rescue covering HAZMAT, Breathing Apparatus, Confined Space Rescue and Entry, Fire Fighting and Extinguishing, Vehicle Extrication, Road Crash Rescue, and BG4 modules.
- Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Hold Certificate IV in Health Care.
- National Certificate in Drug and Alcohol Testing is mandatory.
- Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a compact, effective team setting.
- Valid Western Australian 'C' class driver's license.
- Capability to obtain a new National Police Clearance certificate.
