About the Role
As an Emergency Gas Responder at SGN, you will play a critical part in ensuring the safety and warmth of customers across locations including Ashford, Dover, Canterbury, Maidstone, Hastings, Folkestone, and Tenterden. Beginning in October 2026, this position offers a base salary starting at 37500 per year, rising to 41700 following successful completion of the probation period. Additional earning opportunities arise through paid standby and overtime work.

Key Responsibilities
- Operate independently at various sites including homes and businesses to detect gas leaks and ensure public safety.
- Communicate confidently with customers, actively listen, and address service issues effectively.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by resolving situations to achieve top satisfaction.
- Apply growing expertise in gas services to troubleshoot complex issues and maintain safety of individuals, properties, and the environment.
- Respond promptly to reported gas escapes within regulatory timeframes.
- Maintain and equip your van with necessary tools, equipment, and personal protective gear to perform tasks safely.
- Participate in essential gas supply operations available around the clock, including standby and overtime shifts, which carry additional compensation.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a congenial and approachable demeanor with strong customer service skills to interact with the public effectively.
- Hold a current ACS qualification such as CCN1 or CESPI, with MET1 to MET4 being advantageous though not mandatory.
- Thrive in a public-facing role, able to adapt and remain composed in diverse scenarios.
- Demonstrate a strong curiosity and commitment to continuous learning, seeking to expand skills and knowledge through collaboration.
- Be flexible in working within a team rota that provides 24/7 coverage throughout the year, including weekends and out-of-hours shifts, managed transparently with extra pay.
- Possess a valid UK full manual driving license.
