Role Summary

The position seeks a motivated Embedded Software Architect to revolutionize software and hardware development methodologies within the semiconductor sector. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strategic vision, embracing embedded systems, hardware/software co-design, and process innovation, while engaging with both engineering teams and executive stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive initiatives to enhance and transform software and hardware development processes by identifying inefficiencies and integrating advanced technologies.
  • Lead the architectural design combining software and hardware elements, collaborating closely with hardware architects to meet critical performance, reliability, and energy objectives.
  • Manage embedded software architecture encompassing firmware, drivers, and operating system interactions optimized for resource-limited and high-performance platforms.
  • Partner with hardware and software teams to establish system requirements, participate in hardware reviews, resolve integration challenges, and enhance system efficiency.
  • Contribute to shaping the software strategy aligned with organizational goals and communicate architectural and process innovations to senior leadership.
  • Formulate strategies ensuring coordinated hardware-software integration throughout the product lifecycle adhering to quality standards.
  • Stay current with emerging trends in hardware/software integration and embedded systems, driving the adoption of novel tools and methodologies.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to software engineers fostering collaboration with hardware teams and advocating best practices.
  • Optimize software for semiconductor platforms focusing on power efficiency, throughput, and real-time processing capabilities.
  • Utilize industry tools like FPGA programming, SoC design, JTAG debugging, simulation tools (ModelSim, Cadence) to support development and testing.
  • Produce clear documentation covering architecture, design decisions, and integration approaches, effectively communicating with diverse stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
  • Over seven years of experience in software architecture with strong expertise in hardware/software co-design in embedded systems.
  • Broad experience in semiconductor or related industries involving FPGA, SoC development, or ASIC platforms.
  • Proficiency in embedded programming including low-level firmware, device drivers, RTOS, and bare-metal environments.
  • Programming skills in C, C++, and Python within embedded development contexts.
  • Hands-on experience with semiconductor platform debugging tools, such as JTAG and Logic Analyzers.
  • Deep understanding of embedded system development lifecycles encompassing CI/CD, version control, and testing methodologies.
  • Knowledge of real-time systems, memory management, and optimization techniques for embedded hardware.
  • Self-driven with the ability to independently lead initiatives and advocate continuous improvements.
  • Strong communication skills capable of interfacing effectively with both technical and executive audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with hardware/software co-simulation and virtual prototyping tools.
  • Background in IoT devices or wireless communication integrated with semiconductor hardware.
  • Competence in performance analysis and embedded system optimization.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies applicable to integrated hardware/software development teams.
