Job description
Role Overview
Join Serco's Justice and Immigration Facilities Management team at HMP Fosse Way as an Electrician Grade 1 in a permanent full-time capacity. This position, based onsite in Leicester, operates Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, offering a salary of 38,971 annually plus a comprehensive benefits package. You'll be integral in ensuring electrical systems are safe, compliant, and fully functional within a secure environment that supports essential public services.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair faults in electrical equipment and plant.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to guarantee compliance and operational reliability.
- Install and commission new electrical systems and devices.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical drawings accurately.
- Investigate equipment performance issues and provide informed recommendations.
- Keep detailed records of inspections, maintenance, and tool usage.
Candidate Requirements
- Possess a recognised electrical qualification, such as City and Guilds.
- Completed an accredited electrical apprenticeship.
- Qualified under BS7671 (current IEE regulations).
- Have a minimum of five years post-apprenticeship experience in the electrical field.
- Exhibit strong problem-solving capability and can work independently within secure premises.
- Willingness to participate in an out-of-hours call-out roster with the Facilities team.
Security and Health Screening
An Enhanced Level 1 background check is mandatory, covering spent and unspent convictions and other relevant police-held information according to safeguarding and Rehabilitation of Offenders legislation. Additionally, an Occupational Health Questionnaire must be completed to help provide necessary support.
