Role Overview
We are seeking three skilled Electricians to join our Repairs and Maintenance team. The role involves electrical repair, testing, fault diagnosis, installations, and maintenance for residential and communal properties. This mobile position covers the HP, UB, and SL postcode areas (South Bucks/Middlesex) as well as surrounding counties. The Electrician will be provided with a company vehicle, fuel card, mobile phone, and tablet for job management and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical repairs, fault finding, testing, installations, and maintenance across homes and communal areas.
- Complete all electrical work to high standards independently, adhering to BS 7671 and organizational guidelines.
- Identify electrical faults and determine solutions, escalating complex issues appropriately.
- Accurately complete certification for minor works, installations, and periodic testing on schedule.
- Manage work orders proactively, including follow-ups and changes.
- Report unsafe installations or any compliance risks immediately.
- Maintain vehicle stock and record material usage responsibly.
- Provide clear progress updates and reports on outstanding tasks.
- Communicate effectively with residents about work schedules and access requirements.
- Ensure work areas are clean and safe upon completion.
- Maintain company vehicles in a clean, roadworthy manner and drive safely.
Candidate Expectations
- Consistently deliver high-quality workmanship and reduce defects or follow-on work.
- Achieve positive customer satisfaction and maintain strong right-first-time work records.
- Complete all tasks efficiently within agreed timelines.
- Keep accurate, timely updates using PDA and digital systems.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety standards, BS 7671, and company policies.
- Proactively identify and resolve issues as they arise.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive experience in electrical repairs, installations, testing, and inspections.
- Proficient at diagnosing and fixing electrical faults.
- Background in responsive repairs or maintenance, preferably within social housing.
- Strong knowledge of domestic and communal electrical systems and applicable safety legislation.
- Up-to-date understanding of BS 7671 and electrical safety standards.
- Ability to complete necessary electrical certification accurately.
- Good communication and customer service abilities.
- Strong organizational skills and capability to manage workload under pressure.
- Comfortable using PDAs, mobile technology, and repair management software.
- NVQ Level 3 Electrotechnical qualification or equivalent with AM2 where required; or ECS Gold Card for Installation or Maintenance Electrician.
- Level 3 Award in Requirements for Electrical Installations (BS 7671:2018).
- Holds a full valid UK driving licence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Level 3 Award in Periodic Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations.
- Experience working within social housing environments.
Working Conditions
- 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 17:00.
- Permanent contract based at Chesham/High Wycombe office.
- Mobile role across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and surrounding counties.
- Fully branded company vehicle and fuel card provided for work use.
