About Sydney Airport and the Role

We are seeking an Electrical Technician to join our team, playing an essential part in upholding and enhancing the electrical systems that support the airport's infrastructure. This hands-on role involves working on various electrical equipment and installations throughout the airport precinct to ensure constant safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, service, and repair electrical wiring, lighting, and related apparatus according to industry standards and regulations.
- Interpret electrical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to guide accurate installation and maintenance activities.
- Conduct regular inspections and testing routines to detect and troubleshoot electrical faults promptly.
- Utilize specialized electrical testing tools to identify and address technical issues effectively.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols while performing electrical work.
- Document maintenance and repair activities for transparency and audit purposes.
- Work closely with other technicians and stakeholders to coordinate and execute electrical projects.
- Operate on a rotating 12-hour shift schedule, including working day shifts (6:00 AM to 6:00 PM) or night shifts (6:00 PM to 6:00 AM) and weekend duties as operationally required.
- Provide coverage during absences by working a standard 4-day schedule on day shifts to support maintenance and project activities.
Candidate Profile
- Solid understanding of electrical systems, circuitry, and components.
- Skilled in interpreting technical electrical documentation such as diagrams and blueprints.
- Experience using electrical testing instruments and equipment confidently.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and troubleshooting expertise.
- Meticulous attention to safety and detail in all tasks.
- Hands-on experience in electrical installation, repair, and maintenance in industrial or commercial environments is advantageous.
- Vocational training, apprenticeship, diploma, or certificate in electrical technology or related fields.
- Possession of an electrician’s license or relevant certification may be required.
- Knowledgeable about local electrical codes and compliance standards.
