Job Overview

This role involves maintaining and servicing power plant machinery to ensure operational reliability and efficiency. The technician will perform routine and corrective maintenance on a variety of equipment such as turbines, boilers, generators, transformers, pumps, and associated auxiliary systems.

Responsibilities

  • Execute preventive upkeep procedures on turbines, boilers, generators, transformers, pumps, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Carry out inspections, lubrication, cleaning, servicing, and replace worn parts as necessary.
  • Diagnose equipment problems and troubleshoot operational faults.
  • Interpret technical documentation including manuals, schematics, and drawings.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and test equipment to identify and fix defects.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies to reduce downtime caused by breakdowns or outages.
  • Perform testing, calibration, and adjustments on instruments and equipment.
  • Monitor the performance of machinery and assist in maximizing generation efficiency.
  • Conduct both electrical and mechanical maintenance tasks as required.
  • Accurately document maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and performance metrics.
  • Update maintenance records using computerized management systems (CMMS).
  • Adhere strictly to health, safety, environment (HSE), operational, and quality guidelines.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts focused on enhancing maintenance reliability and plant performance.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent credential.
  • Preferred technical or vocational qualifications in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Maintenance fields.
  • Experience in maintaining or repairing power generation equipment is advantageous.
  • Applicants with backgrounds in electrical, mechanical, or industrial maintenance within utilities or power plant environments will also be considered.
  • Practical experience in both preventive and corrective maintenance practices is preferred.

Technical Knowledge

  • Understanding of power generation machinery and their operational principles.
  • Knowledge of preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance methods.
  • Familiarity with Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) concepts.
  • Proficiency in electrical and mechanical system maintenance.
  • Competence in hydraulics, pneumatics, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Skill in equipment testing, calibration, fault diagnosis, and troubleshooting.
  • Awareness of safety standards specific to power generation and industrial settings.
