Electrical Technician

About the Role

United Group is seeking an Electrical Technician dedicated to maintaining the safe and reliable operation of our feed mills, grain terminals, and stations. This hands-on maintenance role involves installing, inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and electromechanical equipment essential for uninterrupted operations. Your expertise will span motors, MCC panels, VFDs, soft starters, as well as bagging, stocking, and processing machinery while collaborating closely with the maintenance team across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance for motors, MCC panels, variable frequency drives, soft starters, cables, lighting systems, protective devices, control circuits, and other electromechanical equipment.
• Identify and resolve electrical faults and breakdowns, including diagnosing repetitive trips, overheating issues, and loose connections to restore machinery safely and swiftly.
• Replace faulty components, confirm secure connections, verify protections, and ensure safe conditions before returning equipment to service.
• Install and terminate electrical components and cables according to approved drawings and specifications; assist with testing, commissioning, and equipment restarts following maintenance activities.
• Carry out electrical testing procedures such as voltage, current, insulation resistance, continuity, and earthing checks using calibrated instruments; collaborate with System Engineers on PLC or automation modifications.
• Strictly adhere to lock-out/tag-out protocols, verify absence of voltage before work, utilize insulated tools and electrical personal protective equipment, and promptly report hazards, near misses, and incidents.
• Accurately complete work orders and maintenance checklists documenting faults, measurements, repairs, and parts usage; maintain cleanliness and GMP compliance in work areas and tool management.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possession of a technical or vocational diploma specializing in Mechanical or Industrial Maintenance.
• Between 2 to 4 years of practical experience in industrial mechanical maintenance roles.
• Background working in environments such as feed mills, grain terminals, or food manufacturing plants.
• Familiarity with SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) or Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
