About the Role
A reputable building services contractor based in Wolverhampton is seeking an accomplished Electrical Estimator to handle pricing for substantial M&E projects including data centres, hospitals, warehousing, and industrial facilities. The role requires comprehensive ownership of tender processes, delivering competitive electrical cost estimates from initial tender drawings review through to confident bid submission. The team is expanding due to secured projects, offering a balance between individual influence and team collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate detailed and competitive electrical estimates for major building services initiatives.
- Evaluate tender drawings, specifications, schedules, and contract documents thoroughly.
- Conduct detailed electrical quantity take-offs and measurements accurately.
- Identify potential risks, missing elements, and discrepancies; initiate RFIs and tender clarifications.
- Procure and assess supplier and subcontractor quotes adhering to specifications.
- Compile comprehensive tender submissions incorporating assumptions, exclusions, clarifications, and qualifications.
- Seek value engineering opportunities and cost savings.
- Monitor market trends, material pricing, and subcontractor costs.
- Collaborate closely with commercial, design, procurement, and project delivery teams.
- Support negotiation activities and respond to client inquiries related to tenders.
- Participate in tender review meetings and ensure smooth project handover once won.
- Review finished projects against initial estimates to continually improve pricing accuracy.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven background as an Electrical Estimator with strong expertise in electrical building services.
- Experience estimating large-scale projects confidently.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and construction methods with precision.
- Skilled in performing detailed take-offs and preparing tender documents.
- Commercially aware with solid understanding of project costing.
- Experienced in managing supplier and subcontractor relationships effectively.
- Exceptional attention to detail combined with numerical and analytical competency.
- Capable of prioritizing workload and managing multiple tender deadlines independently.
- Legal right to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in sectors such as data centres, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, warehousing/logistics, manufacturing, or infrastructure.
- Previous work with major M&E or specialist electrical contractors.
- Familiarity with estimating software like Amtech or Trimble.
- Relevant qualifications in electrical engineering, construction, or building services.
Working Arrangements
This is a full-time position primarily based in the Wolverhampton office with hybrid and remote working options considered depending on experience, location, and tender requirements.
Compensation
The salary ranges from 60,000 to 85,000 annually, with the core range between 60,000 and 70,000. Exceptional candidates may negotiate packages up to 80,000 - 85,000.
