Role Overview

The EHS Specialist II role focuses on supporting Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives across assigned facilities in the APAC region. Working closely under senior staff and the client's global EHS team, the specialist ensures the implementation of safety programs, compliance with regulatory standards, and mitigation of risks at operational sites. This role requires onsite presence at client locations with occasional regional travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing EHS projects from conception to execution, engaging relevant stakeholders.
  • Contribute to maintaining systems that ensure compliance, reduce injuries, and enhance environmental outcomes.
  • Review and update internal safety policies; conduct hazard and risk assessments to identify and manage potential risks.
  • Provide EHS training and ongoing support to business partners on safety obligations.
  • Support local emergency preparedness activities, including organizing meetings, maintaining documentation, and coordinating drills.
  • Revise safety manuals and standard operating procedures relevant to assigned partners.
  • Maintain EHS management systems and documentation such as training logs and hazardous waste records.
  • Conduct baseline environmental and safety assessments across operations and partner sites.
  • Draft weekly reports and support benchmarking initiatives.
  • Identify operational EHS issues, escalating and suggesting appropriate resolutions.
  • Evaluate proposed operational changes for local compliance and sustainability.
  • Assist in managing environmental permits when required.
  • Ensure assigned tasks meet professional standards and deadlines.

Regional Expertise

  • Familiarity with EHS regulations in APAC jurisdictions such as Singapore WSH Act, Japan ISHA, Australia WHS, India Factories Act, and others, or capacity to research and apply such regulations as needed.
  • Knowledge of permitting, inspections, and regulatory reporting processes in assigned locations.
  • Understanding of cultural and business practices in the APAC region to collaborate effectively across various time zones and multicultural teams.
  • Aware of regional risks like typhoon, monsoon, seismic activities, heat stress, and air quality concerns relevant to the operational sites.
  • Experience interacting with local contractors, vendors, and regulatory authorities is advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety or related field preferred; equivalent practical experience also considered.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED required.
  • At least two years working within an EHS-related environment.
  • Regional or local EHS certifications are favorable or willingness to obtain them.
  • Proficient with Google Suite applications.
  • Experience with EHS management software such as Enablon is beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills in English and local languages.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational capabilities.
  • Self-driven, able to work independently but also collaborate under senior guidance.
  • Quick learner of new technologies.
  • Capable of performing well in fast-paced demanding environments.

Compensation

Salary will be determined based on individual qualifications including knowledge, experience, certifications, and location.
