Role Overview

The Retail Associate is responsible for delivering a positive and engaging shopping experience for customers. Duties include greeting and assisting customers courteously, ensuring merchandise presentation adheres to company standards, maintaining store cleanliness, and executing a variety of store functions as needed. The role involves being actively engaged with customers and supporting store operations throughout the shift.

Key Responsibilities

• Prioritize safety by practicing safe behaviors consistently and maintaining awareness of store conditions to ensure a secure shopping environment.
• Maintain unobstructed emergency exits and promptly address or report hazards to management.
• Interact respectfully and professionally with customers and fellow associates, utilizing company recognition programs to acknowledge achievements.
• Assist customers with merchandise inquiries, operate registers, and provide courteous, knowledgeable service including greeting and thanking customers.
• Respond immediately to customer service requests and escalate issues to leadership when necessary.
• Uphold and represent the Ross brand through excellent customer interactions and professional conduct.
• Conduct cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high-touch areas across all store zones.
• Maintain adherence to company dress code and professional appearance standards.
• Complete daily merchandising tasks including sizing and recovery to ensure the store remains organized, clean, and appealing.
• Expedite new merchandise to the sales floor swiftly, arranging items according to presentation guidelines and developing familiarity with product brands to assist customers effectively.
• Understand and support loss prevention measures, including awareness of security programs and merchandise protection policies.
• Handle confidential information, cash, and credit transactions with integrity and accuracy, following company policies on mark-outs, disposals, and refunds.
• Work efficiently to maximize productivity by minimizing unnecessary steps and strictly following store best practices.

Required Qualifications and Abilities

• Effective communication skills for engaging with customers, associates, and leadership in a pleasant and cooperative manner.
• Basic mathematical skills relevant to retail transactions.
• Physical ability to occasionally lift over 25 pounds and regularly perform activities such as bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, carrying, reaching, and standing or walking for the entire shift.
• Capability to use store equipment including registers, PDTs, PCs, janitorial tools, rolling racks, and ladders as necessary.
• Associates working in stockroom roles must be able to regularly push, pull, and lift over 20 pounds.

Compensation

The position offers a base pay ranging from $16.90 to $17.40 per hour, influenced by experience, skills, education, and location. Total compensation includes additional rewards that vary by role and site.
