About the Role

The Domestic Assistant position is Band 2, involving a 35-hour workweek on a rota basis covering Monday through Sunday. Shift hours are from 07:30 to 15:00. Candidates should expect to work on public holidays such as Christmas and New Year, with these scheduled in advance by supervisors.
This role serves the Perth & Kinross Locality, primarily based at the PRI site. The Domestic Services Department is seeking diligent Domestic Assistants responsible for cleaning in various healthcare settings including wards, side rooms, theatres, offices, health centers, and GP practices across the locality. The goal is to uphold the highest standards of cleanliness within healthcare environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform domestic cleaning duties across diverse healthcare areas to maintain spotless environments.
- Adhere to infection control procedures and health and safety standards relevant to the role.
- Complete domestic-related paperwork accurately.
- Work both independently and collaboratively within a team, including lone working as required.
- Operate methodically and follow instructions diligently.
- Undertake mandatory training sessions, both online and in-person.
- Carry out physical tasks including walking, standing for extended periods, bending, stretching, lifting, and using aids safely.
- Manage work under pressure, respond effectively to unpredictable situations, and adapt to busy clinical and non-clinical environments such as secure units or areas with distressed patients.
- Maintain professionalism and observe confidentiality at all times.
- Be willing to work at various NHS Tayside sites as needed.
Candidate Requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms and listen carefully to instructions and information.
- Basic understanding of health and safety, infection control, and cleaning protocols.
- Capability to complete associated paperwork competently.
- Physical fitness to perform manual tasks throughout the shift.
- Willingness to complete the Health Care Support Workers Workbook to demonstrate competence in the role.
- Commitment to adhering to NHS Code of Conduct and workplace confidentiality.
- Flexibility to work public holidays and various shifts as scheduled.
