About the Role
We are looking for a knowledgeable and skilled Dockmaster who will oversee and manage the safe and efficient docking, undocking, berthing, and vessel movements. The role requires protecting personnel, ships, docks, and company assets throughout marine operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluate vessel details, docking schemes, stability data, and operational limitations before operations.
- Plan and prepare docks including positioning of blocks, arranging services, securing lines, coordinating tugboats, pumps, and labor resources.
- Confirm readiness by reviewing permits, communication channels, and emergency measures prior to commencing tasks.
- Lead and control the docking, undocking, shifting, and berthing activities within authorized limits.
- Monitor vessel positioning, clearances, drafts, loading, and dock condition during all movement phases.
- Halt operations immediately if observed conditions deviate significantly from the approved plan.
- Collaborate effectively with clients, pilots, tug operators, health and safety teams, production personnel, and emergency responders.
- Keep detailed logs of all movements, maintain checklists, record incidents, and document lessons learned to enhance safety and efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of marine deck-officer certification, degree in naval architecture, or an equivalently recognized qualification and experience.
- At least 10 years of pertinent experience in marine or drydock operations, specifically including responsibility for docking.
- Proven experience managing a floating dock of 120 meters with a ship lifting capability of 7000 tons.
- Comprehensive understanding of vessel maneuvering, dock infrastructure, ship stability, and emergency protocols.
- Exhibited leadership in managing complex and high-risk marine operations.
- Adherence to company health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards and Integrated Management System (IMS) policies, with obligation to immediately report hazards, incidents, or unsafe conditions and authority to halt work if there is imminent danger.
