Job Summary

As a dishwasher, your primary responsibility is to ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of dishes, pots, pans, trays, kitchen equipment, work areas, and utensils. Maintaining an orderly and hygienic environment is key to supporting kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Remove food residues from dishes, then wash by hand or place in dishwashing machinery ensuring thorough sanitation.
  • Clean pots, pans, and trays following assigned procedures to guarantee sanitary conditions.
  • Polish silverware using burnishing machines, chemical dips, buffing wheels, or hand cloths as per equipment and instructions.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and maintain kitchen safety standards.
  • Monitor and maintain temperatures and chemical levels based on quality standards.
  • Organize and keep the dishwashing area clean and compliant with safety rules.
  • Sweep and mop kitchen flooring to meet health and safety requirements.
  • Sanitize worktables, walls, refrigerators, meat blocks, and other food preparation surfaces.
  • Manage waste removal, including trash disposal and cleaning or steaming out garbage containers.
  • Transfer supplies and equipment between storage locations and workstations.
  • Assist with loading and unloading supplies and products as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in dishwashing or utility roles within a restaurant setting is desirable but not mandatory.

Schedule and Location

Positions are available both full-time and part-time with variable shifts generally between 6:00 am and 2:30 pm. The work location is at ACIPCO Cafe, 1501 31st Avenue North, Birmingham, AL 35207. Note that applications are accepted online only.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay ranges from $16.00 to $17.00.
