Job Overview
This role is for an onsite dishwasher position at Best Western PLUS NorWester Hotel & Conference Centre located in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. The work is strictly at the physical location with no remote work allowed. The workplace environment includes a rural area setting with restaurant operations.
Responsibilities
- Transport and replace linens as needed.
- Clean and sanitize dishwasher mats, carts, and waste disposal units.
- Clear and clean tables, trays, and chairs efficiently.
- Load buspans and trays for washing.
- Operate dishwashing machines for cleaning dishes, glassware, and flatware.
- Organize and store cleaned dishes properly in storage areas.
- Replenish condiments and supplies at tables and serving sections.
- Hand wash and sanitize dishes and other kitchen items.
- Scrub pots and pans to maintain cleanliness.
- Portion and wrap food items carefully.
- Prepare, heat, and complete simple food items following guidelines.
- Stock refrigerators and salad bars adequately.
- Use both manual and electrical tools to clean, peel, slice, and trim food items.
- Maintain cleanliness by sanitizing kitchen work surfaces, cupboards, storage spaces, appliances, and equipment.
- Handle and safely store cleaning products.
- Receive, unpack, and store supplies in designated refrigerators, freezers, cupboards, and other storage locations.
- Properly dispose of kitchen garbage and trash.
- Sweep, mop, wash, and polish floors to maintain hygiene.
- Wash, peel, and cut vegetables and fruits as required.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent practical experience.
- No prior experience necessary; training will be provided.
- English language proficiency is required.
- Possession of a valid Safe Food Handling certificate.
- Ability to handle weights up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
- Must provide own transportation as public transport is not accessible.
- Reliability and dependability are essential personal qualities for this role.
