Role Purpose and Context
As a result of expanding project opportunities in Ireland, the company is seeking a Director to spearhead business development and project delivery within the Water sector, primarily focused on the Irish market while collaborating cross-regionally. The Director will drive strategic goals, enhance team capabilities, and improve service quality and flexibility to clients. This leadership role also entails contributing to ongoing improvements in organizational processes and structures.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead business development efforts by identifying and maximizing opportunities for new projects through bids, proposals, cross-selling, and up-selling strategies.
- Oversee high-value bids and proposals (in excess of £400k/€400k), ensuring alignment with client expectations, appropriate pricing, and contractual milestones, while providing technical expertise.
- Serve as Project Director for large-scale projects or work packages (>£400k/€400k), ensuring delivery aligns with client objectives, complies with legal and financial requirements, and is completed on time and within budget.
- Manage the delivery and financial oversight of a significant portfolio of projects consistent with SYSTRA's strategic market focus.
- Provide technical leadership by sharing knowledge internally, mentoring colleagues, authoring or contributing to industry publications, and representing the company at relevant events.
- Lead a team or sector within the office, exemplifying expected behaviours and guiding people managers.
- Ensure adherence to both internal and external processes and procedures relevant to the business area.
- Proactively oversee team or sector backlog and workflow management.
- Maintain and cultivate strong relationships with clients, partners, suppliers, and colleagues.
Candidate Profile and Skills
- Extensive experience in sales, bid management, and project delivery within the Water sector in Ireland.
- Proven track record of managing diverse client portfolios effectively.
- Solid understanding of commercial principles and contract management.
- Familiarity with occupational and technical safety standards in project environments.
- Demonstrated success in fostering collaborative working relationships.
- Possession of a relevant degree or equivalent academic qualification.
- Current chartership or professional accreditation in a related field.
