About the Role
PwC Australia's US Tax Advisory team expertly navigates complex international tax landscapes to offer clients tailored compliance and strategic consulting, with emphasis on individual and cross-border taxation issues. Key Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of premium US–Australia tax advisory and compliance projects, ensuring exceptional technical quality, business insight, and client satisfaction.
- Provide expert guidance on complex US individual and international tax matters, including residency issues, foreign investments, pensions, tax credits, trusts, companies, and related reporting.
- Advise affluent individuals, executives, family groups, and private companies on cross-border structuring, transactions, and significant life or business events.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior clients by simplifying complex tax regulations into clear, actionable advice and coordinating multidisciplinary cross-jurisdictional responses.
- Develop and sustain strong links across PwC’s global network to deliver integrated solutions on complex international matters.
- Drive business growth in Australia and the Asia-Pacific by identifying new markets, crafting proposals, and deepening stakeholder relationships.
- Participate in setting strategic direction, financial goals, growth initiatives, and risk management for the US Tax Advisory practice.
- Stay informed on US and Australian tax law developments, assess their impact on clients, and lead market insights and service innovations.
- Lead, mentor, and develop team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence, teamwork, and professional advancement.
- Manage engagement planning, staffing, finances, quality assurance, and risk to ensure sustainable and profitable outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
- Substantial experience in US individual and international tax advisory and compliance, evidenced by successfully leading complex cross-border engagements.
- Advanced technical expertise related to US tax issues for individuals with international interests, covering foreign assets, pensions, trusts, companies, and reporting obligations.
- Proven advisory experience with high-net-worth individuals, executives, family enterprises, and private businesses.
- Solid grasp of Australian tax matters relevant to US tax responsibilities; experience with Australian trusts and companies is an asset.
- Relevant higher education in accounting, taxation, finance, economics, or law.
- Highly regarded certifications such as US CPA, Enrolled Agent, Legal qualifications, Master of Taxation, or equivalent professional credentials.
- Demonstrable success in originating new work, leading proposals, identifying service opportunities, and nurturing senior client relationships.
- Proven leadership in coaching and retaining high-caliber teams while managing multiple priorities.
- Excellent judgment, analytical skills, and strong communication abilities both written and verbal.
- Strategic, commercial mindset capable of influencing senior stakeholders and steering practice priorities.
- Client-centered approach emphasizing integrity, sound judgment, and quality commitment.
- Collaborative leadership adept at mobilizing multidisciplinary, international teams.
- Entrepreneurial drive dedicated to developing new opportunities and enhancing market presence.
