Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic engineering leader to oversee the Portfolio Construction technology platforms within Fidelity Asset Management Solutions (FAMS). This leadership position includes direct management responsibility for around nine software engineers and requires providing technical and execution guidance across multiple engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of approximately 8–10 software engineers, fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.
- Drive delivery of strategic technology initiatives that support portfolio construction and multi-asset investment capabilities.
- Accelerate engineering efficiency and code quality by advancing AI-assisted software development practices and tools.
- Collaborate closely with product and technology leaders to ensure engineering aligns with business priorities and client needs.
- Provide scalable, resilient, and high-quality technology solutions by applying modern engineering principles and cloud-native architectures.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Demonstrated success in leading and growing high-performing engineering teams, with direct management of roughly 8 to 10 engineers.
- Strong technical proficiency with modern engineering technology stacks, cloud-native platforms, and enterprise-scale delivery.
- Hands-on experience using and promoting AI-driven engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude within real development teams.
- Ability to influence technical strategies, partner with product leadership, and translate strategies into effective, scalable business solutions.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and coaching capabilities combined with a passion for innovation and continual improvement.
Team Context
The Fidelity Asset Management Solutions team develops and supports cloud-native platforms for portfolio construction, asset allocation, analytics, and risk management within multi-asset investment solutions. Technologies in use include Java, Angular, Kafka, Oracle databases, and cloud-native architecture. FAMS is heavily investing in AI-enabled engineering workflows and productivity enhancements, actively integrating tools like GitHub Copilot and Claude.
