Role Overview

The Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team at Klaviyo serves as the foundation of trust for over 200,000 businesses globally. Responsible for ensuring the security, reliability, scalability, and performance of the platform — including core data pipelines and advanced AI services — this new role in Dublin calls for a leader who will establish and guide a center of excellence for platform integrity, key to Klaviyo’s expansion in Europe.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the vision, strategy, and roadmap for a unified SRE team, assembling a world-class engineering group while nurturing a culture of operational excellence and continuous learning.
• Promote a "reliable by design" approach throughout the engineering organization, integrating reliability principles seamlessly into the software development lifecycle.
• Oversee all facets of platform stability, including availability, latency, performance, change control, monitoring, incident management, and capacity planning on a global scale.
• Implement automation initiatives to provide scalable, self-service infrastructure and tooling, supporting rapid development without compromises.
• Lead and coordinate incident responses, advocating for transparent, blameless retrospectives that foster ongoing systemic improvements.

About You

• Seasoned engineering leader with a proven record of building and growing high-performing, remote or distributed SRE teams in fast-moving SaaS environments.
• Deeply curious and committed to continuous learning, with strong expertise in up-to-date reliability engineering concepts.
• Proactive self-starter, adept at identifying risks early and mobilizing stakeholders towards resolutions.
• Strong influencer and communicator capable of translating technical details effectively to varied audiences including executives, engineers, and customers.
• Hands-on leader who balances detailed technical involvement with strategic vision setting.
• Experienced in cultivating inclusive, cross-cultural team environments across different time zones.
• Comfortable operating in ambiguous, rapidly evolving scenarios with a mindset focused on incremental progress and opportunity.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum 12 years in software engineering with at least 5 years leading site reliability or related engineering teams.
• Experience founding or scaling engineering teams/offices, preferably including new site establishment.
• Proficient in cloud-native systems, ideally on AWS, at production scale.
• Strong technical foundation in distributed systems, observability tools, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code (Terraform), and continuous integration/delivery methodologies.
• Demonstrated ability managing teams across diverse geographical locations and maintaining cohesive culture.
• Some exposure or hands-on experience with AI technologies, eager to responsibly explore and incorporate AI-driven tools and workflows.

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary range for this Dublin-based role is €160,000 to €240,000, contingent on relevant skills, experience, education, and work location. Total compensation may also include company bonuses, equity, sign-on bonuses, and a comprehensive wellness benefits package where applicable.
