Director, Research

About the Role

We seek a seasoned Director to join a team dedicated to advancing Singapore's AI governance and fostering trust in AI technologies. This role offers the unique chance to operate at the convergence of technology, policy, industry interests, and public welfare, contributing to nationally and internationally significant initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Formulate policies, frameworks, and practical strategies to promote the responsible integration of AI.
• Monitor emerging AI technologies, potential risks, and global trends, and translate these insights into pertinent policy and industry guidelines.
• Engage with technology companies, commercial sectors, academics, and various stakeholders to identify challenges and co-create feasible solutions.
• Support initiatives and programs aimed at encouraging organizations to embrace responsible AI methodologies.
• Participate in and contribute to industry consultations, workshops, engagement activities, and thought leadership.
• Collaborate with governmental bodies and external partners on matters related to AI assurance, governance, safety, and trust.
• Represent the organization in appropriate forums at both local and international levels.
• Lead or contribute to projects requiring coordination among multiple stakeholders, adeptly balancing policy goals with pragmatic implementation needs.

Candidate Profile

• Possess a degree in fields such as technology, computer science, engineering, public policy, business, law, or related disciplines.
• Demonstrate relevant expertise in AI, technology policy, digital governance, risk management, technology consulting, or trust & safety sectors.
• Experience in developing policies, frameworks, strategic initiatives, or programs.
• Strong analytical skills with the capacity to navigate complex and emerging issues.
• Outstanding communication capabilities and proficiency in stakeholder engagement.
• Confidence in interacting with senior stakeholders from government, industry, and other sectors.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment where technology and policy continuously evolve.
• Experience engaging with government agencies, statutory boards, or public sector organizations is beneficial.
