The Director of Power Train Technical Business Development at Vertiv leads strategic pre-sales technical efforts for power infrastructure solutions aimed at global Hyperscale, Neo-Cloud, and MTDC customers. This key role combines extensive electrical power expertise with customer engagement to establish Vertiv as the foundational design choice for power architectures in highly critical data center environments.

Role Scope

The role covers the entire power chain starting from utility entrance to medium voltage switchgear, transformers, both AC and DC UPS systems, static transfer switches, power distribution units including PDUs, RPPs, busway, as well as battery and energy storage systems. With data center campuses expanding to hundreds of megawatts and rising AI-driven power demands, this position is pivotal in shaping Vertiv’s response to evolving power delivery challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical pre-sales activities engaging strategic GSA accounts to influence and architect power solutions positioning Vertiv’s products as the design standard.
  • Collaborate with customer engineering, CTOs, and design teams to construct holistic power strategies addressing capacity, power density, and reliability.
  • Provide system-level power architecture insights including AC/DC tradeoffs, modular designs, and redundancy considerations early in customer design cycles.
  • Command deep knowledge of Vertiv’s power portfolio covering UPS units, switchgear, distribution solutions, and innovative integrated systems like OneCore power modules.
  • Align product roadmaps and power solutions with market trends and customer evolving requirements.
  • Represent Vertiv at industry forums, trade shows, and standards organizations to promote power train innovation and maintain thought leadership.
  • Lead and mentor a dispersed team of power experts fostering collaboration and technical growth across regions.
  • Maintain close partnership with sales, product development, and engineering to synchronize strategy and messaging.

Voice of Customer & Market Intelligence

  • Gather and communicate customer feedback, market needs, and forthcoming trends related to DC architectures, energy storage, grid integration, and sustainability to product teams.
  • Drive product innovation responsiveness by providing actionable insights to product lines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering required; advanced degrees such as MBA or MS preferred.
  • Over 10 years of progressive experience in technical business development or pre-sales, including at least 5 years at senior level influencing enterprise power strategies.
  • Established expertise in data center power infrastructure with proven success steering decisions in strategic global accounts.
  • Hands-on understanding of diverse data center power technologies including UPS (both AC & DC), switchgear, PDUs, busway, static transfer switches, battery and energy storage systems, and power monitoring.
  • Experience leading geographically distributed power teams and fostering collaborations across global business units and product lines.
  • Active involvement with industry standards bodies such as IEEE, NFPA, Uptime Institute and ability to represent the company at conferences and publications.
  • Exceptional communication skills to engage C-suite executives and deliver compelling technical-commercial presentations.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to key customer sites and global locations.
