Role Summary

We are searching for an accomplished Director of Software Engineering to guide sizeable engineering squads, lead architectural transformations, and guarantee delivery of high-quality, scalable, and secure software solutions. This position demands a blend of deep technical knowledge, leadership competence, and disciplined execution to support scalable platforms used by millions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and inspire multiple engineering teams covering frontend, backend, mobile, and DevOps disciplines
• Collaborate closely with delivery heads, architects, and product executives
• Foster an engineering culture emphasizing ownership, quality, and accountability
• Develop and maintain KPIs and performance evaluation structures for teams
• Drive transition from monolithic applications to microservices architecture
• Ensure systems deliver scalability, resilience, and superior performance
• Define and enforce engineering standards, design patterns, and best practices
• Review and approve system architecture, deployment plans, and API designs
• Manage full lifecycle delivery of several significant projects ensuring quality, performance, and security compliance
• Implement release governance targeting zero downtime in production
• Track roadmap progress to maintain timely delivery
• Ensure systems achieve near-zero load times and meet performance thresholds
• Lead cost optimization initiatives across cloud, infrastructure, and API layers
• Monitor system health using diagnostic tools such as Application Insights and log management
• Identify and resolve platform bottlenecks
• Enforce secure coding, vulnerability management, and adherence to compliance standards such as SOC2 and PCI
• Implement automated testing strategies including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests
• Drive usage of robust code reviews, continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines, and quality gates
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, QA, and Operations teams spanning multiple geographies including US and India
• Provide regular status updates to senior leadership including CPTO and VP Engineering
• Recruit, grow, and retain top engineering talent
• Define career progression models, succession plans, and promote ongoing education and innovation culture

Technical Qualifications

• Proficient with .NET Core, microservices architectures, and API design
• Experience with ReactJS, mobile platforms, and modern frontend architectures
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Azure
• Hands-on experience with SQL Server and NoSQL databases like MongoDB; familiar with caching technologies like Redis
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, scalability challenges, and performance tuning techniques

Leadership and Process Expertise

• Demonstrated leadership managing engineering teams in excess of 50 members
• Decisive problem solver with strong execution focus
• Experience dealing with large-scale production system incidents
• Proficient in CI/CD pipelines using tools like Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
• Familiarity with code quality and security tools such as SonarQube and CodeQL
• Skilled in Agile methodologies including Scrum and release management practices
