Director Field CTO - Security

Overview

Join Akamai Technologies as a Director Field CTO focusing on security within the APJ region. This role centers on engaging the security community, driving thought leadership, and acting as a trusted advisor to enterprise technology decision makers. You will help enterprises build, scale, and protect high-performance applications using Akamai's distributed cloud, AI-enabled infrastructure, and zero-trust security solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the main regional point of contact for security-related products and collaborate closely with sales teams to support business growth.
• Build and nurture a community of customers that contributes feedback influencing product strategies and roadmaps.
• Drive engagement with journalists and industry analysts to bolster public relations and analyst relations efforts.
• Represent Akamai at conferences and industry events by speaking on security trends and Akamai’s security portfolio.
• Provide education and updates to customer-facing teams regarding emerging security trends and technologies.

Qualifications and Experience

• At least 12 years of experience in cybersecurity with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or an equivalent qualification).
• Strong collaboration skills working cross-functionally with field teams, customers, partners, and executive stakeholders including CISOs.
• Expertise in edge-native security solutions, Zero Trust architecture, and techniques for reducing complex enterprise attack surfaces.
• In-depth understanding of distributed and workload security, including securing diverse workloads, enforcing Zero Trust models, and protecting edge/hybrid environments from advanced threats.
• Knowledge of AI runtime defense, including security considerations around live AI models and agentic workflows.
• Proven ability to evangelize cybersecurity, edge defense, and technical initiatives within the broader technology community.
• Executive presence with strong relationship management capabilities across internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience in building and leading high-performing teams effectively.
