Role Overview

The Director of Domain Consulting will lead a team of Domain Consultants who provide critical technical expertise to drive sales growth within Cortex security solutions. This role demands a blend of technical proficiency in security platforms and application architecture, combined with proven leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Solution Consulting and Sales leadership to synchronize technical efforts with company-wide sales goals.
  • Oversee and enhance pre-sales technical operations to ensure effective solution delivery that meets organizational objectives.
  • Engage senior customers and partners, imparting insights on industry trends, challenges, and technological advancements to guide their security decisions.
  • Clearly communicate technical, operational, and commercial challenges addressed by Palo Alto Networks’ Cortex solutions.
  • Implement and oversee technical strategies across teams, ensuring solutions effectively address customer security needs within Cortex.
  • Initiate outcome-driven technical programs that boost pipeline and sales, working closely with Solution Consulting leadership to improve efficiency and success.
  • Drive strong technical partnerships with resellers, distributors, system integrators, and alliances, focusing on partner enablement and sales productivity.
  • Lead technical aspects of portfolio expansion, demonstrating success through adoption and upselling of strategic security offerings.
  • Ensure technical teams develop deep domain expertise, leading to growth and high success rates in technical evaluations and Proof of Value engagements within Cortex.
  • Monitor and report performance metrics transparently to highlight achievements and identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage talent effectively including development plans, morale initiatives, and promotion pathways to maintain top-tier technical personnel.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with support, product management, R&D, and other teams to resolve complex technical challenges and drive innovation.
  • Serve as escalation point for pre-sales and post-sales technical issues within Cortex.
  • Mentor and lead Domain Consultants with focus on both technical skills and organizational leadership.
  • Manage technical evaluations and Proof of Value projects ensuring timely completion and high success rates.

Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of combined first and second line Domain Consulting leadership experience preferred.
  • Expertise in SIEM, SOAR, SOC, and endpoint security environments.
  • Strong background in public cloud architectures, cloud-native security, CI/CD, DevOps, firewalls, and associated security technologies from both technical and business perspectives.
  • Insight into application development, cloud trends, and security operations market.
  • Recognized as a trusted consultant by solution teams, customers, and partners.
  • Demonstrated blend of management, technical, and commercial skills along with a challenger sales mindset and growth orientation.
  • Awareness of security product market trends, Palo Alto Networks’ roadmap, and competitive dynamics.
  • Experience engaging senior organizational leaders and industry partners effectively.
  • Ability to act as a strategic business partner across departments with strong executive presence.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Excellent communication skills to translate complex technical solutions into accessible business language and foster decision-maker relationships.
  • Highly commercial focus, prioritizing customer needs and revenue growth.
  • Hands-on leadership style, comfortable engaging in detailed business aspects when necessary.
  • Highly autonomous with capability to drive cross-functional projects end-to-end.
  • Decisive and urgent leadership with a passion for business success.
  • Strategic thinker able to plan, build, and collaborate closely with sales, marketing, and product teams.

Additional Information

This position supports an on-site working model primarily.

Travel up to 50% is anticipated.
