Position Summary
We seek a seasoned Director of CSA Design Management for the APAC region to strategically guide and elevate the design and engineering activities throughout the development lifecycle. This senior position entails full accountability for the design process, close collaboration with engineering teams, oversight of procurement, and serving as the primary liaison for department leadership.
Responsibilities
- Drive the creation, assessment, and refinement of regional design packages, standards, and technical specifications for civil, structural, and architectural disciplines to ensure consistent, high-quality project delivery.
- Advise the Design & Engineering team on subject matter relating to civil, structural, and architectural issues, including expertise in modular construction techniques, design methodology, fabrication, and installation.
- Oversee the design lifecycle from initial feasibility studies through concept development to issued-for-construction (IFC) documentation, ensuring alignment with cost, schedule, and operational parameters.
- Implement and maintain regional design management systems including tracking deliverables, managing design documentation states (IFT and IFC), and monitoring key performance indicators for project uniformity.
- Assist sales and development teams in client engagements by providing technical presentations, project updates, risk analysis, and progress reports to senior leadership.
- Support procurement and project teams in managing consultant and engineering partner relationships, fostering strong connections with consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews to identify design gaps, inconsistencies, and risks, ensuring adherence to Vantage's safety, quality, and operational standards.
- Coordinate design modifications across internal groups and external consultants to harmonize CSA, MEP, and ICT systems; support construction teams in addressing design challenges on site.
- Promote innovation in design processes utilizing BIM, prefabrication, modularity, and sustainable low-carbon design methods; continually drive improvements in design, procurement, and construction workflows.
- Lead, mentor, and cultivate regional design and engineering teams by encouraging collaboration, performance excellence, and knowledge exchange via regular reviews and lessons learned sessions.
- Provide expertise regarding cost implications throughout design development and support value engineering along with change management efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil or structural engineering, architecture, or related technical field is preferred.
- At least 15 years' experience in design engineering, management, or leadership roles focused on data centers or highly serviced building projects.
- Deep knowledge of civil, structural, and architectural design requirements specific to data centers; familiarity with MEP is advantageous.
- Proven capability managing entire design lifecycles across large-scale, complex construction initiatives.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary design teams, consultants, and contractors on extensive development projects.
- Strong grasp of design coordination, change control processes, and construction delivery methodologies.
- Commercial acumen with ability to evaluate design impacts on project cost, timeline, and outcomes.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities, with experience working across regional and multicultural environments.
- Awareness of APAC construction markets and relevant building codes.
- Willingness to travel approximately 25%, with potential increases over time.
