Overview
Are you a strategic and innovative leader energized by navigating complex, evolving environments and delivering impactful regional programs? The India Development Center (IDC) Executive Office is seeking an experienced Director of Business Program Management to lead business strategy, operations, and employee experience initiatives. IDC drives Microsoft's mission by developing trusted products and services globally from its engineering centers in India.
The role demands a collaborative leader capable of independent strategic thinking, managing diverse stakeholders, and swiftly resolving complex challenges with confidentiality and integrity.
Role and Responsibilities
- Shape long-term strategies and oversee daily operations of the IDC Executive Office involving program managers who focus on employee experience, culture, inclusion, management excellence, and business operations across multiple sites within the Worldwide Engineering Site Community.
- Collaborate closely with the Chief of Staff and Engineering Site Leader to maintain a rhythm of business that supports execution of core priorities and best practice exchange.
- Lead strategic initiatives and cross-group projects aligned with overall organizational strategy, including planning, success measurement, and communications.
- Partner with internal teams such as HR, Recruiting, Finance, Communications, and Legal to implement communication strategies that promote Microsoft’s values and presence.
- Influence the development of a positive, inclusive, and innovative culture across engineering and research centers.
- Manage programming that engages STEM students, universities, tech communities, customers, and partners within the region.
- Support financial planning and budgeting efforts in coordination with Finance and business managers, including expense reporting and reconciliation.
- Organize and execute meetings, events, offsites, and partnerships within Microsoft and externally.
- Drive continuous process improvements and simplify workflows for increased efficiency.
- Exercise sound judgment, diplomacy, and professionalism in interactions across all levels of the organization.
Accountabilities and Skills
- Design and manage large-scale programs translating vision into actionable plans with data-driven decision making.
- Expertise in process design, automation, reengineering, and solving complex problems in dynamic environments.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including developing executive-level presentations and engaging senior leaders confidently.
- Strong stakeholder management, navigating matrix organizations, and building relationships across functions.
- Ability to lead virtual, global teams and influence outcomes without formal authority.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Finance, or related field with at least 8 years in program, process, or improvement management, and 6 years leadership experience; or equivalent experience.
- Preferred Master’s degree and over 10 years’ experience managing large, cross-functional programs and teams, driving strategy to execution with measurable outcomes.
- Proven passion for Microsoft’s mission and fostering an inclusive workplace environment.
- Strong problem-solving aptitude and a deep understanding of business program management and operations.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, multitasking, and leadership abilities; self-starter mindset with bias for action and results.
- Capability to work effectively under ambiguity, manage complex projects with tight deadlines, and motivate others.
- Required to meet Microsoft and government security clearance protocols including periodic background checks.
