Role Summary
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will offer one-on-one care to individuals with developmental disabilities both at home and within the community, promoting their independence and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with daily living activities such as cooking, housekeeping, personal hygiene, grooming, and transportation
- Support clients' involvement in social and community engagements including shopping and social events
- Encourage and assist individuals in achieving personal milestones and celebrate their progress
- Advocate for client choice, self-determination, and independence
- Maintain accurate records of care, activities, and progress made
- Collaborate closely with team members to ensure continuous, high-quality support
Eligibility Criteria
- Minimum age: 18 years
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification
- Successfully pass background checks and complete required training
- Possess a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation and insurance proof
- Ability to operate safely and respectfully in clients' homes and communities
- Demonstrate compassion, reliability, and motivation to positively impact lives
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities or autism, including familiarity with Individual Activity Support Plans and Plans of Service and Supports
- Knowledge and application of foundational behavior support methods like redirection, visual prompting, and environmental modifications
