About Help at Home and the Role
Help at Home seeks compassionate and trustworthy Direct Support Professionals to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their residences and communities in Amory, MS. Role Responsibilities
- Deliver one-on-one assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities at home and within their communities
- Support daily living activities including meal preparation, housekeeping, personal hygiene and grooming, and transportation
- Facilitate participation in social and community outings like shopping and events
- Assist individuals in accomplishing personal objectives and praise their achievements
- Promote autonomy, choice, and self-advocacy skills
- Maintain accurate records of care provided, activities, and client progress
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure continuity and quality of care
Candidate Eligibility
- Minimum age of 18 years
- High school diploma or equivalent educational attainment
- Clear background check and completion of mandated training
- Valid driver’s license with dependable transportation and proof of insurance (primary or secondary)
- Ability to work safely and respectfully within client residences and community settings
- Strong compassion, reliability, and commitment to positively impacting lives
Preferred Experience
- Previous support experience for individuals with intellectual, developmental disabilities, and/or autism
- Familiarity with implementing Individual Activity Support Plans (ASP) and Plans of Service and Supports (PSS)
- Knowledge of behavior-support techniques such as redirection, visual cues, and modifying environments
