Job Overview
This role involves enhancing software quality, improving efficiency, and accelerating delivery in a DevOps capacity. The engineer will collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team that includes Development, QA, IT Operations, Information Security, and User-Centred Design, all striving for unified customer-centric DevOps best practices. The position is part of the Application Support team, offering exposure to various platforms and products in the UK, combining development, DevOps responsibilities, and support duties, including participation in an on-call rotation.
Core Responsibilities
- Utilize and manage DevOps tools, as well as containerization technologies.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Serve as a business subject matter expert, enabling efficient operations within the DevOps team.
- Engage in stakeholder management by negotiating and influencing to ensure effective service delivery and correct prioritization of efforts.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least 2 years of experience in a DevOps engineering role.
- A strong willingness to explore and adopt new technologies.
- Proficient knowledge in AWS cloud platform and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipeline setup and upkeep.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform, ArgoCD, Kubernetes, Kafka, and KOWL.
- Experience collaborating with Java development teams.
- Familiarity with multiple database systems, their architecture, and integration methods.
- Competent in using monitoring tools to maintain system reliability and performance.
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes orchestration and Helm package management.
- Expertise in establishing and managing Jenkins pipelines.
- Experience in database schema change management tools like Liquibase.
- Understanding of GitOps methodologies.
- Commitment to automation, proactive monitoring, continual improvement, and establishing industry best practices.
