Job description
About the Role
An ambitious and rapidly expanding insurance brokerage group based in Northern England is seeking a Development Executive to fuel ongoing growth across the northern region. The company has substantially grown its Gross Written Premium (GWP) from £150 million to £750 million in the last two years through an aggressive merger and acquisition strategy. Supported by a global parent company, the business features a diverse group structure encompassing Retail, Wholesale, Managing General Agent (MGA), and Software divisions, combining stability and growth potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and convert new business opportunities, mostly involving premiums of £10,000 or more.
- Establish and maintain a sales pipeline by networking extensively, developing strong insurer relationships, and actively engaging with the market.
- Utilize company-provided resources including marketing, data analytics, and contact management systems to support business development.
- Progress toward a Client Director role as experience and performance grow.
- Convert prospects independently to build a personal portfolio without inheriting existing client books, except where specialized niches are brought.
What Is Offered
- A structured career development plan spanning three years.
- Comprehensive support during the first year to establish a robust pipeline.
- Access to in-house MGAs, enhancing market agility and competitiveness.
- Strong internal support structures, including marketing, data procurement, and lead generation teams.
- A collaborative working environment that recognises individual contributions and avoids the anonymity of large corporations.
- A clear performance target aiming for 130% of base salary earnings within the first 12 months, with full support to achieve this.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrated success in developing new business within the insurance sector.
- Experience selling insurance products typically involving premiums higher than £10,000, focusing on SME or mid-market clients.
- Preferred background sectors include construction (highly desirable), haulage and logistics, warehousing, technology or life sciences, high net worth, or motor trade.
- Open to candidates with strong niche expertise, including those coming from non-traditional insurance backgrounds.
Working Conditions
- Flexible hybrid work arrangement, typically requiring attendance at the Manchester office one to two days per month, with more days optional.
- Position involves substantial engagement across Northern England, covering both sides of the Pennines.
Additional Information
Joining this expanding organization means engaging in a turning point for the business, with opportunities to have significant visible impact prior to the upcoming financial year (starting in July). The Manchester office has maintained resilience through market challenges, sustaining key client relationships while growing new business.
This opportunity is suitable only for candidates with a commercial insurance sales background. Please note that direct application details are omitted.
