Developer Advocate

Overview

This opportunity is offered by a partner organization seeking a Developer Advocate based in India. The role involves engaging with developer communities by leveraging technical expertise, community involvement, and educational content creation. This position merges hands-on experience with web technologies and APIs along with public speaking and building relationships. The Developer Advocate will represent developer interests via conferences, meetups, webinars, podcasts, online groups, and industry events. They will produce tutorials, demos, videos, code snippets, and technical articles to simplify complex data and developer processes for easy adoption.

Role Responsibilities

• Act as the organization’s representative at developer-related conferences, meetups, community forums, podcasts, webinars, and panel discussions.
• Scout and assess opportunities for speaking engagements, sponsorships, partnerships, and community participation aligned with strategic objectives.
• Develop and deliver compelling technical presentations, workshops, demos, webinars, and panel discussions geared toward developer audiences.
• Cultivate and sustain strong connections with developers, community influencers, event organizers, technology partners, and independent advocates.
• Expand and support a network of external advocates sharing experiences with web data, APIs, and related developer technologies.
• Maintain regular engagement with developers via social media, forums, events, open-source communities, and other technical platforms.
• Create diverse technical content such as tutorials, articles, videos, presentations, demos, and code samples to assist developers in understanding and integrating tools.
• Illustrate practical solutions for challenges related to web scraping, data extraction, API integration, and web data issues.
• Write technical articles for the company blog and relevant external publications.
• Spot opportunities for involvement in and contributions to developer and open-source communities.
• Champion the developer viewpoint within marketing and across the wider organization to ensure community needs inform strategic decisions.
• Identify enhancements to developer documentation and contribute to its improvement.
• Create valuable and pertinent social media content for technical audiences.
• Explore emerging workflows involving LLM applications and AI agents, showcasing how web data supports AI-driven solutions.
• Measure and analyze the impact of events, speaking roles, partnerships, content, and community initiatives to refine future activities.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of three years’ experience in developer advocacy, developer relations, community engagement, or a related technical position.
• Proven presence or following within relevant developer or technical communities.
• Strong grasp of web technologies, APIs, web scraping, and data extraction techniques.
• Demonstrable proficiency in Python programming.
• A true passion for web data extraction technologies and related fields.
• Dedication to supporting developers and enabling technical audiences to learn, troubleshoot, and adopt new technologies.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with experience delivering public technical presentations.
• Track record of involvement with developer communities, social media, blogging, or production of technical content.
• Experience with organizing community-building activities or hosting events is advantageous.
• Self-driven and capable of prioritizing tasks efficiently while working independently and collaboratively within distributed teams.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
• Experience with tools like Scrapy, headless browsers, or web scraping is a bonus but not mandatory.
