Delivery Driver

About the Role

Elgas Limited is seeking a dedicated and reliable Delivery Driver to join our active team in Christchurch, New Zealand. In this role, you will be responsible for the delivery and filling of LPG gas cylinders to both residential and commercial customers throughout the region. This position requires a proactive approach, strong customer interaction skills, and a firm commitment to health and safety standards due to the nature of the goods handled.

Key Responsibilities

• Work Monday to Friday starting approximately at 6:30 AM and finishing no later than 5:00 PM, with occasional Saturday shifts required.
• Deliver and fill LPG gas cylinders safely to various locations within the region.
• Engage with customers directly, addressing their questions and providing helpful assistance when needed.
• Handle dangerous goods with strict adherence to health and safety protocols.

Candidate Requirements

• Possess a clean Class 2 driver's licence with a minimum of two years' experience driving Class 2 vehicles.
• Ability to drive manual transmission vehicles and prior experience with goods delivery.
• Physically capable of lifting heavy items involved in deliveries.
• Hold a Dangerous Goods licence and LPG filling experience or be willing to obtain training in these areas.
• Flexible attitude with a strong customer service orientation.
• Good understanding of the local region and surroundings.
• Competent in using handheld computer delivery devices.
• A proactive mindset towards health and safety responsibilities.
• Must successfully pass background screening including criminal record checks, ACC history, medical exams, and drug and alcohol tests.
• Team player with a positive "can-do" attitude and adaptable to the operational needs of the company.
