Role Overview

The Database Reliability Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the dependability, efficiency, and scalability of Fuse's data infrastructure, focusing on Postgres and ClickHouse databases. This remote position involves managing data pipelines, designing analytical schemas, overseeing data migration, and implementing data quality practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve the reliability, performance, and scalability of Fuse’s database systems including Postgres and ClickHouse.
• Develop and sustain robust data pipelines for analytics, reporting, and product functions.
• Design and maintain analytical schemas by converting business requirements into clear data models.
• Perform migration and transformation of data from Postgres to ClickHouse while ensuring performance and reliability.
• Create and manage DBT models that represent business domains and facilitate easy data access across teams.
• Implement testing strategies and data quality checks to guarantee trustworthy datasets.
• Address data duplication, enhance consistency, and uphold clean modeling standards.
• Manage database and infrastructure changes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools to minimize direct database modifications.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in backend or data engineering roles.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python is mandatory.
• Practical experience with relational databases, especially Postgres.
• Expertise in designing schemas and constructing data models reflecting real business processes.
• Familiarity with DBT or equivalent data transformation frameworks.
• Strong background in data validation, testing, and quality assurance procedures.
• Experience managing infrastructure with IaC tools like Pulumi or AWS CDK, emphasizing treating the database as code.
• Ability to quickly understand new business domains and translate them into clear data models.
• Preferred: knowledge of ClickHouse or columnar databases, cloud-based data orchestration platforms (e.g., Dagster, Step Functions), CI/CD pipelines for data workflows, and operating large-scale production databases.
