Database Engineer

Job Overview

We are seeking a Database Engineer who will be responsible for designing, monitoring, implementing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing database systems to ensure their high availability, scalability, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop software or utility tools to automate management of large-scale database instances efficiently.
• Detect database faults, localize issues, and create mechanisms to reduce loss and speed up anomaly recovery.
• Work closely with application development teams to enhance database performance and dependability.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to promptly address critical database problems and ensure continuous system availability.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Programming, Computer Studies, or related fields.
• Good understanding of TCP/IP, data structures, algorithms, operating systems, networking, database systems, and computer architecture.
• Basic knowledge of database theory and system concepts such as indexing, transactions, ACID properties, MVCC, Raft consensus, sharding, CAP theorem, and high availability strategies.
• Experience programming in at least one backend language such as Python, Golang, or Java.
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux operating systems and network environments is desirable.
• Experience with databases like MySQL, Redis, MongoDB, HDFS, or HBase is advantageous.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate effectively across teams.
• Proficiency in both Chinese and English languages is preferred.
