Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Database Administrator with extensive expertise in PostgreSQL to join our team on a contract basis in Sheffield, England. The ideal candidate will bring over five years of PostgreSQL database administration experience, possess deep knowledge of database installation, configuration, and monitoring, and demonstrate proficiency in data modeling and SQL scripting specifically for PostgreSQL.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer PostgreSQL databases, including installation, setup, and active monitoring to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Develop and maintain PostgreSQL data models and SQL scripts to support operational needs.
- Optimize the performance of PostgreSQL databases by tuning for both write and read operations.
- Assess database performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and carry out improvements particularly in transactional database environments.
- Experience using PostgreSQL within Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments is highly advantageous.
