Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced, detail-focused Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. This position involves managing databases across the enterprise and supporting multiple client applications. The ideal candidate will be proactive and skilled in ensuring optimal database performance, security, and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, configure, and support MSSQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL databases.
- Continuously monitor database performance, optimizing queries, indexes, and storage configurations.
- Enforce database security by handling roles, privileges, and access controls effectively.
- Design and implement backup strategies and disaster recovery plans.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve database issues such as performance bottlenecks and outages.
- Collaborate closely with development teams to enhance database design, stored procedures, and query efficiency.
- Automate routine database maintenance using scripting and database tools.
- Execute upgrades, patches, and migrations to keep databases current.
- Participate with DevOps teams to assist with database deployments in both cloud and on-premise settings.
- Maintain comprehensive records of database architectures, configurations, and protocols.
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years’ professional experience as a Database Administrator.
- Proficient in administering MSSQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL databases.
- Strong capabilities with SQL query writing, indexing, stored procedures, and performance optimization.
- In-depth knowledge of database security measures and access management.
- Practical experience with backup, data recovery, and high-availability systems.
Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with NoSQL database platforms.
- Hands-on experience with cloud database services such as AWS RDS or Azure SQL Database.
- Knowledge of scripting languages like Python or PowerShell for automation tasks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Relevant certifications, for example Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate.
