Overview
Join TikTok's Trust & Safety team dedicated to fostering a secure and reliable platform for billions globally by merging policy, technology, and operations to combat harmful content and promote a healthy online environment.
The Transparency & Observability Data Science unit focuses on developing robust data metrics and analytics that gauge the performance of enforcement systems, enhance internal decision-making, support transparency reports, and elevate data quality and interpretability.
Key Responsibilities
- Create comprehensive Trust & Safety metrics across diverse products and content classifications.
- Develop monitoring dashboards delivering actionable safety insights.
- Implement automated anomaly detection and alerting systems to promptly flag data and operational irregularities.
- Ensure data accuracy, timeliness, and reliability while resolving data discrepancies and reinforcing quality processes.
- Collaborate with engineering to enhance reliability and governance of data sources.
- Partner with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Policy, Operations, and Data to build unified measurement standards.
- Innovate with AI-driven tools to monitor model effectiveness and assess their influence on platform safety.
- Translate complex datasets into strategic insights outlining risks and opportunities influencing platform safety.
- Contribute to long-term planning for observability and measurement enhancements within Trust & Safety.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years’ experience in Data Science, Analytics, Engineering, or related quantitative domains.
- Advanced SQL abilities and proficiency with large-scale data environments such as Hive or Spark.
- Strong coding skills in Python or R.
- Proven track record developing data quality, observability, or reporting systems.
- Expertise in designing metrics and implementing dashboards or reporting tools.
- Excellent analytical reasoning, problem-solving, and clear communication of technical information.
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in quantitative disciplines like Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or Economics.
Preferred Experience
- Background in Trust & Safety, content moderation, risk analysis, or compliance reporting.
- Hands-on experience building scalable observability or monitoring platforms.
- Knowledge of transparency reporting mandates such as the Digital Services Act or comparable regulations.
- Skills in anomaly detection, experimentation, causal inference, or time series analysis.
- Proven leadership in large-scale data quality initiatives.
- Experience collaborating with global, diverse teams.
- A passion for leveraging data to enhance online platform safety.
