Job Overview

Join FNB South Africa as a Data Science Manager, where you'll implement analytics standards within business units to monetize data through advanced mathematical models and business insights. Your work will uncover hidden trends and associations to influence strategic decisions and enhance customer experience.

About the Role

This position sits within the Short Term Insurance Data & Analytics Office at FNB. You will lead a team tasked with developing and refining data science capabilities supporting operational processes in the short-term insurance sector. This role bridges both banking and insurance industries, offering growth through diversified exposure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and improve operational workflows.
  • Create and oversee new propensity models for customer behavior prediction.
  • Design customer hyper-segmentation target models.
  • Implement strategies to decrease attrition via collections and retention efforts.
  • Collaborate with operations to enhance turnaround times and execution efficiency.
  • Assist in generating analytical reports for call center activities.
  • Guide the data engineering team concerning build requirements for BDP/PI system implementations.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • A relevant undergraduate degree in Mathematical Sciences, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or Engineering.
  • Honours degree strongly preferred.
  • Between 5 to 8 years of relevant experience, including 2 to 3 years in a managerial capacity.
  • Proficient coding skills in SAS and SQL at intermediate to advanced levels.
  • Familiarity with advanced analytical methodologies such as statistical techniques, segmentation, optimization, and experimental design.
  • Specialized experience in operations including claims, servicing, and collections with proven deployment and execution success.
