Job description

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Product Manager specialized in retail inventory and supply chain, adept at building and managing data platforms. This role is critical in shaping data-driven innovation within Product Management, focusing on designing, developing, and optimizing data solutions aligned with customer needs and organizational goals. Working at the intersection of product, data, and inventory management, you will collaborate with engineers and data scientists in cross-functional teams to deliver impactful data products in the Inventory domain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Convert business challenges into opportunities for data product development, especially targeting inventory optimization and supply planning.
  • Develop use cases that apply data-intensive strategies to enhance inventory management.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to explore AI/ML applications throughout the supply chain, including dynamic safety stock and predictive models.
  • Contribute to defining the data platform strategy and maintain roadmaps for internal data products like dashboards, APIs, and models to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of data products, from identifying problems and exploring data to integrating models and ensuring business adoption.
  • Work closely with data engineering and governance teams to secure data availability, quality, and usability.
  • Independently utilize SQL and Python for data exploration, validation, and prototyping insights.
  • Establish metrics to monitor product usage, efficiency, and business impact and refine products based on ongoing feedback.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Strong understanding of platform-oriented strategies, viewing supply chain and inventory as interconnected ecosystems and developing modular, reusable product solutions.
  • Between 4 and 8 years of product management experience with a focus on data and analytics, including at least 2 years in retail or supply chain domains.
  • Proficient in conducting discovery phases to identify supply chain problems and opportunities through data analysis.
  • Capability to define data-driven KPIs and steer development efforts towards delivering measurable value.
  • Awareness of external market trends and the ability to align them with product strategies to drive business growth.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and their practical applications in supply chain management, with no expectation of building models but understanding model outputs and pipelines.
  • Advanced skills in SQL, data visualization (Power BI, Tableau), and Python for exploratory data analysis.
  • Experience working with data lakes, APIs, and event-driven system architectures.
  • Proven capability to write clear product requirements and collaborate effectively with technical experts in data engineering, data science, and supply chain operations.
  • Knowledge of demand and supply planning solutions such as Blue Yonder or SAP IBP is advantageous.
