Job description
Position Overview
This role entails comprehensive responsibility for enterprise data modelling across the full project lifecycle. As a Data Modeller, you will lead the creation of conceptual, logical, and physical data models within enterprise data warehouse settings. Additionally, you will establish and maintain modelling standards, review methodologies, and data dictionary protocols to ensure consistency and usability. The role involves collaboration with data engineering and analytics teams, from initial requirements to technical execution, including SQL and ETL contributions.
Key Duties
- Lead the development and management of conceptual, logical, and physical data models in enterprise data warehouse projects.
- Oversee the creation and upkeep of data dictionaries, govern modelling standards, conduct peer reviews, and manage release procedures.
- Design, maintain, and optimize SQL analytical scripts and ETL processes, supporting implementation from analysis through final delivery.
- Collaborate closely with developers, testers, data consumers, and support teams to enhance model quality and ensure consistent delivery workflows.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in enterprise data modelling leveraging metadata or model-driven approaches.
- Hands-on knowledge with a minimum of two enterprise data warehouse platforms such as MS SQL, Teradata, Snowflake, Redshift, or Databricks.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL, including the ability to reverse-engineer complex user queries and review technical code.
- Understanding of DevOps principles, version control, and contemporary delivery processes, complemented by programming skills in languages such as Python, SAS, R, or Java.
Technical Environment
- Expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical data modelling techniques.
- Experience with MS SQL, Teradata, Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks platforms.
- Competent in SQL, ETL, metadata handling, and data dictionary management.
- Familiarity with AWS S3, AWS Glue, SAS, DevOps tools, and version control systems.
Additional Information
- Location: Australian Capital Territory / New South Wales with a hybrid work model.
- Mandatory requirement: Baseline Security Clearance.
- Contract duration: 12 months with a discretionary 12-month extension.
