Job description

Role Overview

The Data Governance Consultant is tasked with the creation, deployment, and operational management of comprehensive enterprise Data Governance frameworks, policies, procedures, and operating models. Collaborating closely with business stakeholders, data owners, stewards, architects, and IT teams, the role ensures reliable, secure, compliant, and high-grade data management by leveraging Informatica Cloud Data Governance & Catalog (CDGC).

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement enterprise-wide Data Governance frameworks, standards, and policies.
  • Establish governance operating models including decision rights, forums, and escalation procedures.
  • Define and appoint governance roles such as Data Owners, Data Stewards, Custodians, and Governance Councils.
  • Create governance roadmaps aligned with the company’s data strategy and compliance obligations.
  • Lead the setup and configuration of Informatica Cloud Data Governance & Catalog.
  • Configure business glossaries, metadata repositories, classification schemes, and governance workflows.
  • Enable automated metadata harvesting and data lineage tracking.
  • Integrate governance solutions with cloud data platforms like Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Databricks, and SQL systems.
  • Implement metadata management and develop business taxonomies and glossaries, defining ownership and approval workflows.
  • Enhance data discoverability and business comprehension of key data assets.
  • Define critical data elements and data quality rules, partnering with business units to establish KPIs and monitoring processes.
  • Support remediation efforts and promote data stewardship adoption across departments.
  • Document complete data lineage and oversee data classification and sensitive data protocols.
  • Assist in compliance, audits, regulatory reporting, and uphold privacy, security, and governance standards.
  • Engage stakeholders through workshops, interviews, and governance requirements gathering.
  • Facilitate governance councils and present progress and metrics to leadership.

Required Skills and Expertise

  • Expertise in Informatica Cloud Data Governance & Catalog (CDGC), Informatica EDC, Axon, and Data Quality tools.
  • Proficient in metadata management, business glossary management, data catalog implementation, and data lineage.
  • Experience with data stewardship workflows, data quality frameworks, classification, and sensitive data governance.
  • Strong skills in SQL and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of cloud data platforms including Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, and Databricks.
  • Understanding of governance operating models, including RACI charts.
  • Consulting skills encompassing governance framework design, process design, stakeholder engagement, business analysis, workshop facilitation, change management, communication with executives, governance maturity assessment, and regulatory compliance alignment.
