Role Responsibilities

As a Data Engineer within the Data, AI, Loyalty, and Analytics team, you will architect and maintain scalable data infrastructure that enables smarter business decisions and enhances customer experiences. You will handle the development of pipelines, analytical datasets, and models to support reporting, self-service analytics, advanced analytics, and emerging AI initiatives. Your workday involves leveraging technologies like Python, dbt, Apache Airflow, Snowflake, and Power BI in a dynamic and evolving environment.

  • Create and sustain dependable data pipelines and curated datasets for various analytics and AI projects
  • Design analytical data models such as dimensional and semantic layers to simplify data accessibility for teams
  • Implement reusable data transformations utilizing Python, SQL, dbt, and Apache Airflow
  • Enhance data quality via automated testing, continuous monitoring, comprehensive documentation, and lineage tracing
  • Optimize data queries and storage solutions to maximize performance, scalability, and cost efficiency
  • Convert shifting business needs into practical, manageable data products
  • Collaborate with business intelligence developers, data scientists, analysts, architects, and product teams to deliver integrated solutions
  • Engage in peer code reviews, technical discussions, and uphold shared engineering standards
  • Develop consistent business definitions balancing governance, flexibility, and delivery speed

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate approaches complex problems with curiosity and pragmatism, effectively transforming ambiguity into actionable solutions. They prioritize building trustworthy data products and continuously improve quality and documentation while actively contributing ideas in design and review processes. Open communication, willingness to learn, and ability to explain technical concepts to cross-disciplinary teams are essential.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Approximately 5+ years of practical experience in data engineering or related roles
  • Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, dbt, and Apache Airflow for data pipeline and transformation development
  • Experience constructing data pipelines and analytical applications on cloud platforms such as Snowflake
  • Familiarity with dimensional modelling, Data Vault, or modern data modelling methodologies
  • Skilled in creating semantic layers and business-user friendly data structures
  • Understanding of data governance, quality assurance, lineage, and metadata management
  • Experience with source control, continuous integration/deployment, automated testing, and solid engineering practices
  • Background working in Agile, cross-functional product teams
  • Relevant degree or equivalent industry experience
  • Exposure to Power BI, retail analytics, machine learning, or AI-driven analytics considered advantageous but not mandatory
