Role Overview

Join Meta as a Data Engineer where you will contribute to the design and construction of large-scale data sets critical to a wide range of consumer and business-facing products across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, Reality Labs, and Threads. This role engages your technical expertise and analytical thinking to enhance user experiences impacting billions globally and numerous businesses.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and take ownership of data architectures for multiple large-scale initiatives, carefully balancing design and operational trade-offs.
• Develop and enhance logging frameworks, partner with data infrastructure teams to troubleshoot and resolve data issues efficiently.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to gather requirements and represent critical data insights effectively.
• Establish and monitor Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for data sets under your purview.
• Implement and maintain security protocols ensuring compliance with privacy requirements while managing data quality and governance processes.
• Create and deploy advanced data models and visualizations to support various product domains and use cases.
• Address complex data integration challenges by applying optimal ETL strategies and techniques sourcing from both structured and unstructured data.
• Maintain and improve current production pipelines, focusing on efficiency by leveraging advanced algorithms.
• Optimize dashboards, pipelines, frameworks, and data systems to streamline the development of data artifacts.
• Drive data-focused product and cross-team initiatives by identifying opportunities that maximize impact.
• Provide mentorship and constructive feedback to team members to enhance their skills and contributions.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of four years’ experience, or two years with a Ph.D., working with SQL, ETL, data modeling, and proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, C++, C#, or Scala.

Preferred Qualifications

• Continuous learning and application of AI technologies, including prompt/context engineering and agent orchestration.
• Master's degree or Ph.D. in a STEM discipline.
• Proven experience integrating AI tools to improve workflows resulting in measurable efficiency and quality enhancements.
• Commitment to responsible and ethical AI practices, including risk assessment, bias mitigation, and quality assurance.
