Data Engineer / Analytics Engineer

About the Role

Delegat Limited is seeking a technically adept and commercially aware Data Engineer / Analytics Engineer to join their Corporate IT team located at Commercial Bay in Auckland. This role is central to managing Delegat's advanced data ecosystem, which is built upon the Microsoft Fabric end-to-end analytics platform. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, constructing, and supporting data pipelines, lakehouse architecture, semantic models, and reporting tools to convert operational and commercial datasets into trusted and actionable business intelligence.

Responsibilities

• Create, develop, and maintain pipelines, Dataflows, Lakehouse components, and data ingestion operations using Microsoft Fabric.
• Build, maintain, and support semantic data models and Power BI solutions that facilitate reliable self-service analytics.
• Oversee monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing Fabric workloads to enhance the platform’s performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather business needs and translate these into viable data solutions and insights.
• Support robust data governance through comprehensive documentation, managing metadata, ensuring data quality controls, and tracking data lineage.
• Contribute ideas and participate in business process enhancements and ongoing improvements to Delegat’s data and analytics capabilities.
• Provide operational and technical support for designated data and analytics platforms.
• Enhance the accessibility, quality, and utilization of data across the organisation.
• Balance development of new data solutions with maintenance and support to ensure reliability, governance, and suitability of the data environment.

Candidate Profile

• Possess 3 to 5+ years of experience in roles such as Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer, BI Developer, Reporting Analyst, or Data Analyst.
• Demonstrate strong proficiency in SQL and experience with modern cloud-based data platforms.
• Have practical experience working with Microsoft Fabric technologies including pipelines, Dataflows, Lakehouse architecture, and semantic models.
• Exhibit strong skills in Power BI development and data modelling.
• Show capability in interpreting business requirements and converting them into scalable data and analytics solutions.
• Have experience in monitoring, supporting, and enhancing production-grade data environments.
• Display excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of interacting effectively with both technical and non-technical parties.
• Adopt a continuous improvement mindset, take ownership of deliverables, and adapt to feedback.
• Experience with Python and/or PySpark is advantageous.
• Familiarity with Power Platform tools such as Power Automate and low-code development solutions is beneficial.
• Exposure to Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, Azure cloud technologies, or machine learning/AI solutions is considered an asset.
• Experience from FMCG, manufacturing, sales, or distribution sectors is advantageous.
