Role Overview
The Data Centre Selection Manager will join the Data Center Strategy team, which is part of the global Infrastructure strategy division. This role involves enhancing the quality and reducing the costs of our colocation sites and points of presence (PoPs), as well as expanding Cloudflare’s infrastructure footprint. The successful candidate will leverage extensive industry contacts to secure advantageous deals and maintain strong vendor partnerships to optimize contract structures and market insights. The role requires managing multiple concurrent projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement regional vendor strategies for data centers.
- Manage end-to-end data center deals, including planning, RFPs, negotiations, and execution.
- Collaborate across legal, operations, capacity planning, network strategy, and security teams to align requirements and timelines.
- Conduct scheduled quarterly business reviews and vendor management activities with principal partners.
- Represent Cloudflare credibly to external partners, including senior executives and at industry events.
- Serve as the main contact for internal stakeholders and external colocation vendors.
- Contribute inputs to the annual data center budget for cost tracking and benchmarking.
- Review colocation expenditures and invoice approvals.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Over 10 years of experience in managing and planning data center footprints within fast-paced enterprise technology organizations, cloud service providers, software companies, or colocation firms.
- Strong multitasking abilities and proven track record managing complex projects across multiple teams and global locations within deadlines.
- Ability to independently address challenges and provide solutions.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
- Proven expertise in commercial negotiation.
- Experience or knowledge in rack configurations, site power planning, and data center white space engineering is advantageous.
- Understanding of network concepts is beneficial.
- Background in budget planning, financial analysis, or related analytical roles adds value.
- Familiarity with Jira software is a plus.
- Multilingual skills or experience living and working internationally is favorable.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required.
